There are many different types of home based jobs such as tutoring, pickling, and painting services. There is a whole world of opportunities out there that may not be related to what you have done in the past. You can do anything from writing contracts for lawyers or insurance agents to editing photographs or making websites. Jobsites like zillow, google jobs and craigslist provide a variety of listings for jobs online as well as shorter term gigs with email postings on sites like odesk and freelancer. You can create your own freelance business if writing or something else doesn't scratch that itch! Simply decide what your skills are then find the clientele who need those individualized services.

Keeping in mind that it's wise to find out what your company's maternity leave policy is, home-based jobs are becoming more and more common. Office space can be prohibitively expensive for many startups, so recruiting people who won't use physical office space helps them get around this cost hurdle. Plus employees with kids need not take extra days off work during school holidays or sick days if they're at home. I've done 10+ years of full time work while being a mom to 3 children.

If you live in a state where home-based business practices are not restricted, it is possible to make money from home. Selling crafts or other goods through online sites such as Etsy or Ebay is an example of a home-based job that does not require investment in inventory. Web design and social media management can also be done from anywhere with internet access. In the event that your location prohibits certain types of businesses from operating in your place of residence, there may still be ways for you to work at home and take advantage of your skills and expertise.

Home based jobs are often great for people who want to work on their own schedule or want more flexibility in their life. Examples include sales, writing, tutoring, gigs like dog walking and house sitting. They're also good for people with kids at home because while they may be caring for the children while still working abroad, they can support the family financially without having to pay hefty child care expenses. Also importantly, many times it's possible to do some of these type of jobs online which can make it possible work from anywhere in the world including countries where there is internet access available but not physical proximity.
