As a self employed freelancer, you will be subject to the UK's Self Assessment tax system. This means that quarterly, you'll have to complete a "tax return" detailing your income and outgoings over the previous 3 months. Once done, HMRC will then send you a proposed tax return for approval. You can work on your own time from home as this process takes no more than 10 minutes each quarter. In Summary: I'm not sure there is much more information on this topic but yes it is possible and requires little time and effort to complete!

When it comes to taxation, the UK has some of the most complex rules in the world. This is due to their three different categories for taxpayers - employed, self-employed or company shareholder. Each category of taxpayer needs to take certain elements into account when submitting their tax return. And if you're a freelancer who work for clients who are based in EU countries you'll also need to submit VAT payment documents with your annual finances.

The good news is that you make the process of paying taxes very easy. You can get a few years of transcripts from HMRC (to show how much income and national insurance contributions you've had), fill out a tax return, and wait for them to do your calculations for you before getting your money back. No need to worry about quarterly deadlines or filling in forms. After all, it's just a lot easier not having to worry about things like HMRC's late filing penalties or late payment fees if they're done with their bit of the equation on time!
