We hear that question often. The answer is "yes". Upwork reviews well on Trustpilot, and probably the most common review there is to do would be for freelancers to write reviews about clients they've had. See? Approved by both sides! Our reviews come from actual service providers and their reviews come from actual clients - so odds are good no one's blowing smoke up anyone's assess. Plus you can always go off of our public reputation in the professional community. We're here because we care about connecting talented freelance professionals to great companies, not just because we want your money or want you to work for companies we don't know anything about (we're barely an upstart ourselves).

This is a very straightforward question. I outline my own thoughts below. I am not affiliated with upwork in any way, but I do happen to be an expert on online freelancing sites like it. One of the reasons that I found upwork quite appealing was its strong reputation for paying out all of the money that you earn; there are no questions about it. The thing about this payoff process is that if they were not genuine - or even if they had simply started cutting down on payouts at some point - then people would rise against them and their reputation would decline quickly (no one likes to work hard only to be screwed).

Answer: Other than the numerous scam postings, yes.

Upwork is a legitimate company that offers freelancing opportunities for professionals striving to make an honest living. Freelancers are typically screened with identity checks, which can be submitted with valid identification or via verified bank account balances before becoming eligible to work on projects. As amazing as the job opportunities may sound, it's essential to keep in mind that there are some risks you need to lookout for when tackling freelance gigs on Upwork.
"Be wary of scams created by copycat accounts or fake profiles." To avoid scammers or fake profiles, verify the legitimacy of their profile before choosing them for projects if given the opportunity in your search results page - even if they have a very high rating

Unfortunately, no job posting site is completely honest. It's often the case that some companies post fake jobs to see who responds, collects responses of people interested in working for them, then disqualifies everyone but the most qualified candidate without actually letting them know. The idea is that they're more likely to hire someone who applies directly off their website if they are already aware of their qualifications despite not having posted the advertised position on any other websites. Upwork does not condone this type of behavior.
