It's tough to say definitively, but I have no doubts that freelancer.com is genuine in the sense of them not running a scam; the site is honest in their dealings with users and pays promptly. It may be difficult to make money on there because competition is strong and it can be hard getting clients. So if you want an easy way to make some cash this would not be for you. However, if your willing to put in work then this could potentially pay off handsomely for you!

It is wise to be cautious when using a site like Freelancer.com. There are risks involved, and you may want to do your due diligence before going forward with a project or accepting a gig. Freelancer.com is a freelance job-site that offers services for graphic designers, web developers, programmers and other creative fields as well as those in the customer service industry who offer live chat solutions or phone support among other things.

Freelancer is a great site. However, it is important to follow safety precautions. Never send out sensitive information no matter how confident you are of the source. Freelancer needs more options for escrow services so that members can release funds without fear of theft or fraud which would be beneficial to all parties especially for larger projects and higher priced jobs. Freelancers should watch out for scams such as people posting ads requiring "urgent payment" and then disappearing after getting the payment from their victims who were desperate enough to fall into such a trap thinking they might not get another opportunity because they couldn't afford it. Be aware!

It's very difficult to tell if the site is legitimate or not--what you need to know is that freelancer.com does not provide identity-based security which means that your personal information will be easily accessible to malicious individuals looking for victims. We strongly urge people search for other, safer alternatives where they have an opportunity of protecting their identity. Gaining visibility into all the crucial factors will help you make the best decision regarding the various providers out there who are promising everything including a healthier future. Trust your instincts and avoid signing up prematurely with websites lest you fall victim to fraudsters!

Honest opinions from a freelance worker. I have not had a bad experience with freelancer.com. Not all freelancers on the site are professionals, but I find that you can weed out the ne'er do wells through careful vetting and communication up front (before you commit to work). The few semi-professional/prosumer types that I've worked with seem to be decent--no lemons yet! Along these lines, it would be worthwhile to realize one of the fundamental truths about the online gig economy: there is no protection or insurance for either party if things go sour (see Freelancer review board) .

Freelancer has been on the air for over a decade. In those years, we have paid out thousands of dollars to freelancers and invested a considerable amount of time and energy building a safe and reliable platform with dedicated customer service teams who are on hand 24 hours a day to support our users. We also have robust features that protect both freelancers and clients from being scammed including the `Freelancer Protection Program' (a provision that is included in all contracts which enables mutual agreement between Freelancer.com, as an independent third-party mediator, and contract signatories) as well as email confirmation functionality; where applicants must confirm their offers before they're accepted by employers.
