    answer: First of all, keep your skills updated. You don't want to charge out the same price for work that takes you twice as long if you're more competent than before. Nowadays it's not enough to be good at one thing - clients are looking for people who can do everything. Secondly, get more social! There are plenty of great freelance networks on Facebook these days - get in touch with some colleagues and chat about your latest project ideas or industry stories. Knowing someone on a professional level is often more helpful than trying to advertise yourself through word-of-mouth only (although it may be the case that having some testimonials helps).

    -Do free work for your clients. Let them know that this is on the house, but it will only be for 30 mins so you can get an idea of their workflow.. -Soon after they start working with you let them know about the concept of paying per project or paying by hour. Make sure they understand that some projects might take more time than others and just set aside some time to break down how much it would cost. -Within 90 days let them know that what is currently happening needs to change because either A) It's not profitable for both parties anymore B) They are getting sloppy C) They are too demanding D) You are too busy..

    There is no one size fits all method to getting clients as a freelancer, but there are some general guidelines that could help you out. 1) New post on Blog - Create a new blog post to showcase what you can do and invite people who might need your services to get in touch with you. Charge for this before someone agrees. 2) Marketing Campaign - Create a batch of useful content about the issue at hand and spread it out through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. Publishing your work on relevant websites is also an option if they allow self-submissions.

    The first step to building your freelance business is your website. Develop a website that accurately reflects who you are and shows off the work you have done in the past. Adding an about page will show potential clients why they should hire you. Then, enter as many contests as possible that will put your skills on display and let people know what sets you apart from others in said field. It's also important to network and stay active on LinkedIn, Twitter, and other social media platforms - which can all help lead customers back to your site! If it didn't hurt having coffee with everybody now would be a good time for those pleasantries now!

    The best way to get clients as a freelancer is by asking for them. Phone calls are cheap, easy, and it's amazing what can be achieved in 10 minutes. You'd be surprised how many people will say yes over the phone if you ask them for their business! It's common advice to "build relationships with people" but too often that means waiting until they contact you about an issue they're having. That sounds great until you realize it could mean months or years of missed opportunities while your competition is busily building their client base! Make the first move and make sure you stand out from all the other designers clamouring for attention at busy companies.
