Freelancing is a great way to make money and spend more time with your family while feeling fulfilled professionally. You will need to plan carefully and set some sensible boundaries while at the same time give yourself enough freedom and security. It's also necessary for you to avoid micromanagement--and financial insecurity--by setting clear expectations with both employers and clients, communicating your availability, continuing your education/training, building sound relationships with other freelancers or vendors who can step in when you don't have work at the moment, self-promoting so potential clients know about all of the skills you offer, etc. Plus there's no commute!

Use your skills and expertise to be an indispensible resource for the client, especially when the need is difficult or tedious. Don't try to compete on price with people who are dedicated sloggers for low pay in large firms. Overtime, you will create a level of personal loyalty that may not exist elsewhere. Completing niche tasks quickly will put you in the pole position if clients have repeat requirements because this pre-qualifies them as someone they can call on when they have urgent needs or projects come up suddenly.

I think its a great to change up your work week. I recommend taking one day off from the freelance to do the two things you never get done during working time: One day can be spent solely on answering clientsâ?T emails, one day for going over what you did that week and where it needs improving, and finally a whole day to do whatever you find worth while - go out with friends, relax at home, or explore a new hobby. Other freelancers recommend having a "free" or lazy Friday between each of their work days. This is done so they have something fun to look forward to in three weeks when they have five days in row to do nothing but watch TV shows online!

There are many things to do in freelancing, but the two important things are having a diversified portfolio of skills and managing your time wisely. It's usually best to specialize in one area at first, then once you're successful with that subject matter move on to something else. When it comes to maximizing your time, try searching for small independent projects that don't necessarily take up an entire day or week of work-- this way you'll be giving yourself unlimited opportunities for making money while continuing to generate new content.

As a freelancer, it's important to stay on top of your financials. Make sure you set up a cash-based budget and make a list of the prices you charge for the work you do so that taxes are automatically accounted for each year. Once you establish rates, stick with them unless they change in line with changes in cost of living. It helps to find online resources like automated invoicing programs or other tools designed specifically for people who don't have an office, so take the time to find out what works best for your situation!

I've compiled a list of tips on what to do in freelancing below. Working hours are often fluid - some days you might start at 9am and finish at 3pm, while on others you could be up until 1am finishing work. It's important to establish clear working hours for yourself so that your day-to-day life doesn't get disrupted by the uncertainty of when exactly your deadlines are. If you're looking for more work, it's best to pick quality over quantity.
